Hallo, Düsseldorf!
After only one issue at the SFO ticket counter (where they insisted that Sara was already in Düsseldorf), we made it safely and relatively quickly to Düsseldorf. The flight was almost 11 hours, three of which were pleasantly occupied watching "Battlestar Galactica". Düsseldorf is a nice enough place--what we've seen so far isn't terribly striking, but we're feeling more confident financially (the purchasing power of a Euro seems higher than I was anticipating) and gustatorially (we've already encountered Indian, Turkish, Spanish, "Mexican", Greek, Italian, and Argentine restaurants--the quality remains to be determined). We spent some time in the Carlsplatz farmers' market, where they had tons of fresh and excellent-looking fruits and veggies, as well as some striking flowers. (In our jet-lagged state of mind, we forgot to grab the camera.) I think this will be a nice place to spend two days adjusting to a new time zone before starting our German course on Tuesday.
