We are leaving tomorrow, though it still does not seem real. We'll get on a plane in San Francisco at 3 PM for a (mercifully) direct flight to Düsseldorf. (That should have an umlaut. I guess I'm going to have to learn how to do those. --Note: Tyler added the umlauts.) We'll arrive around 9 AM and will spend the day trying to stay awake.
After two nights in Düsseldorf we'll head to Bonn, where we'll be taking an intensive German course for two months. During that time we'll also be looking for an apartment in Aachen, where we'll live for the rest of our two years in Germany.
Tyler already has trips to Crete and Herculaneum with his lab lined up for the fall, so we expect to have some cool pictures and entertaining stories to post here soon. Auf Wiedersehen!
Good luck. We'll miss you!
ReplyDeleteMissing you already!
ReplyDeleteTwo years in Germany! Whatever for? (Not that that's not awesome--because it is. I'm just curious is all.) Glad I found your blog. You're in Germany for two years. We're back in Salt Lake for eight! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! What takes you back to Salt Lake? We are here for a postdoc for Tyler. He's going to be using MRI-related techniques to analyze artifacts such as paintings, musical instruments, and frescoes. Poor thing, he's going to have to travel all over Europe to study these objects. I plan to go along for moral support :)
